MMA ODDS AND ENDS FOR TUESDAY: DC VS. HENDO RUMORED FOR UFC 175

A matchup between two of the top-10 light heavyweights in the world is rumored to take place at UFC 175. According to a report from MMAFighting.com, Daniel Cormier is likely to face legend Dan Henderson in UFC 175 that July in Las Vegas. Previously, Cormier had been connected to a fight against Rafael Feijao, but the UFC has reportedly thought twice about that matchup and is going to do Cormier/Hendo instead. Although the report was stated to be untrue by UFC president Dana White via Twitter, all of us understand that White enjoys to maintain these types of things in house till they are 100% official, and of course as the old saying goes,”Where there is smoke there’s fire.” I really do think this matchup between Cormier and Henderson happens because it is the fight that makes most sense from the 205lb division right now. There are a good deal of people out there discussing how awful Henderson looked in the first two rounds of his struggle with Shogun Rua at UFC Fight Night 38 a few weeks ago, and he certainly didn’t seem like the Hendo of old for the first ten minutes. But what people forget is that the struggle was scheduled for 25 minutes, and Henderson got the work done in the minute of the fight. I feel like lovers and media have been far too critical of Henderson considering that, you knowthat he won the fight with Shogun. As far as Cormier goes, he’s been unbeaten in his mixed martial arts profession and basically untested for the most part as he’s been pretty much flawless in all of his struggles, including his three in the UFC against Roy Nelson, Frank Mir, and Pat Cummins. But I truly believe Henderson is a much more dangerous fighter than all three of these men, and this fight between DC and Hendo isn’t a walk in the park for DC, regardless of what some people are saying. That said, clearly Henderson would put in the struggle Cormier has a large favorite, if it really goes down. My guess is that DC opens roughly -400 for the fight, one that is very likely to serve as the co-main event of UFC 175 when that event occurs. I think that’s a fair place for DC, but I would not surprised at all when the gambling public bets him up to some crazy number, possibly. Hopefully we get confirmation of this bout soon, since I presume Hendo is the right test for DC and when Cormier can complete him in impressive fashion, he will have truly got his title taken against Jon Jones.
